Roadie-in-Chief Chesshir Challenges All Players to Turn in Two Leads in Coming Week
To motivate bands and players, Roadie-in-Chief Jay Chesshir announced that that the staff would be unleashed to sell sponsorships and encouraged players to accelerate closing of deals. Further, he challenged each player to complete and turn in at least two Membership Lead Forms in the coming week.
The challenge was made at the second Rally Gig of Battle of the Bands, the Chamber’s 2009 Total Resource Campaign. Held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 22nd at the Electric Cowboy, the lunch was presented and catered by Catering to You.
In his first appearance in his native Arkansas, not the King, not the Queen, but the Jack of Country Music – Cole Slaw & The Baked Bean Band opened the breakfast with his hit – Lord Please Make My Daddy Burt Reynolds (click for video). From the small town of Despair (just down the road from Hope), Cole was accompanied by Limey Bean, standing in for the “no show” Baked Bean Band.
Elizabeth “Thin Lizzy” Small (PC/DC) stood in for Promoter Barbara Graves (BeeGees’ Nearly Barenaked Ladies) announcing that Elvis & The iPhones had replaced her PC/DC at the top of the band charts with 11,000 in sales, while the iPhones’ Matt Jordan “Sparks” led all solo artists with 10,000 in sales.
Through the second week of the Tour, total record sales were 86,920. With only two weeks (ten business days) to go, the campaign is significantly behind pace to achieve the necessary 25% of the Chamber’s annual revenue.
Kristi “Steely” Dannelley (Leaders of the Pack) won the gig’s drawing for an 8 gig iPod Nano. To generate more member leads and sponsorship sales, the drawing was made from completed and submitted sponsorship agreements and Membership Lead Forms.
The next Rally Gig will be a breakfast beginning at 8:00 am presented by RSVP Catering at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center Ballroom (Ninth & Broadway). RSVP by completing and submitting the form online or contacting Kim Shumpert, 377.6010.
For immediate updates, players and Chamber members are encouraged to follow the tour on Twitter and on the campaign’s website.

2009 Total Resource Campaign to Feature Battle of the Bands
Get ready to Rock The Rock, as Promoter Barbara Graves (Chairman, Membership; Barbara Graves Intimate Fashions) presents Battle of the Bands, the Chamber’s 2009 Total Resource Campaign. All music – all the time, the entertaining and motivating campaign will afford participants the opportunity to grow their respective businesses, while empowering the Chamber to protect and grow the economy of Little Rock and the region.

Top producers will join each other and the Chamber leadership on an all-expense paid trip (details to follow) soon after Labor Day.
Last year, 20 teams of 160 volunteers competed to generate sales of products, sponsorships and memberships to support the Chamber's work on behalf of Little Rock and the region. As a result, fully 25% of the Chamber’s total revenue was raised during the six-week campaign, resulting in a record-breaking year in both economic development and membership.
The reason for the success of last year's campaign, headed by Lunsford Bridges (Metropolitan National Bank), was the commitment of team Owners/CEOs. While the Chamber provides all the training, support and incentives needed for success, the most productive teams were those led by CEOs who made the campaign a priority.
In that spirit, this year, we're again moving the Owners/CEOs out front – literally – as the Front Men/Women of their respective bands. There are five very simple steps to becoming a music legend:
1) Book Your Band;
2) Appoint Your Manager;
3) Assemble Your Players;
4) Name Your Band (make it original or a shameless rip off); then
5) Prepare to Rock!
The Chamber takes it from there. As the Front Man/Woman, Owners/CEOs will receive regular updates from Promoter Graves, while Managers and Bands will work closely with the Roadies (Chamber staff).
Do battle by contacting Gary Newton, 377.6007 and lead the Chamber to an even greater year in 2009-10. Little Rock On!
