Leadership Greater Little Rock, Coulson Oil Company Matt
Lyles Repeat with Challenge Cup
Chamber League Baseball, the 2007 Total Resource Campaign
of the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce, closed its
Championship Lunch on Thursday with Commissioner Bob
Birch's (Twin City Bank Homerun Hitters) announcement that
$569,771.50 had been raised during the six-week season. The
tally bested the 2006 campaign's $441,442 by $128,329.50, a
29% increase. While the competition has ended, players still
have until the close of business on Thursday, May 31st to turn
in outstanding agreements and applications, so the total could
go even higher.
With $78,850, Leadership Greater Little Rock - A League of
Their Own repeated as team champions behind Elizabeth
Small's (PDC Companies) $67,565. Matt Lyles (Coulson Oil
Company All-Stars) also repeated as MVP by garnering
$76,750 in sales, only $2,100 behind the winning team. The
names of the winning team and MVP will be inscribed on the
Challenge Cup trophy case, which is displayed in the
Chamber's Deltic Timber Atrium.
The Championship Lunch was presented by Elizabeth Small
(Leadership Greater Little Rock - A League of Their Own, PDC
Companies). The 62 players in attendance competed in a
drawing for six, behind-the-plate, Travelers tickets for that
evening donated by Blake James (Stephens Inc.).
By generating $16,500 in the final six days of the season,
Leadership Greater Little Rock - A League of Their Own won
the opportunity to be hosted by the Alltel Sliders' Randy
Wilbourn (Owner) and Joy Secuban (Manager) in the Alltel box
at Dickey-Stephens Park on July 23rd to see the Travs face the
Springfield Cardinals. Mr. Wilbourn promised the winners
"better than usual food."
Each member of the winning team of the five CLB divisions
were presented tickets to Taste of the Rock, the Chamber's
food and beverage showcase to be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm
in the River Market Pavilions. Division winners and totals were:
Rookie League ($14,550)
University of Arkansas at Little Rock Spartans
Financial Division ($56,515)
Twin City Bank Homerun Hitters
Business Division ($84,100)

jerseys, all players making a sale in the campaign became
eligible for a drawing for two, between home and the mound,
third base line tickets to see the Cardinals play the Phillies at
Busch Stadium on June 22nd and 23rd. The two, two-ticket

With six days remaining in the season for Chamber League
Baseball, the Chamber’s 2007 Total Resource Campaign,
$424,361.50 has been raised, just $76,638.50 short of our
$500,000 goal. And, there has been a dramatic change in our
leader board (check out the latest sales spreadsheet).
The Championship Lunch, presented by Elizabeth Small
(Leadership Greater Little Rock – A League of Their Own, PDC
Companies), will be held at the Chamber on Thursday, May
24th, from 12:00 to 1:30 pm. The event will feature two
drawings for prime Cardinals tickets at Busch Stadium.
One drawing will be from among everyone who sold in the
campaign, while the other will only be among those in
attendance. So, be sure to roll out for your chance at a
weekend in St. Louis.
As a further incentive, Alltel will donate their box at Dickey-
Stephens Park, with, according to Alltel Sliders Owner Randy
Wilbourn, "better than the usual food" to the team that sells
the most down the stretch - starting now!
The lunch will also feature pictures with team baseball cards,
announcement of division winners, and awarding of game
balls, commissions and bonuses. It will culminate in the
presentation of the Chamber’s Challenge Cup to the top team
and MVP of the CLB season. Bennett’s Market will again grill
dogs and burgers. And of course, there will be peanuts and
Cracker Jack.
Owners, managers and players should RSVP by clicking here,
completing and submitting the form or contacting Liz Crowson
at 377.6015.

Ahead of the historic opening of Dickey-Stephens Park, it was a record-
shattering Opening Day for Chamber League Baseball, the 2007 Total
Resource Campaign of the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce,
as 114 players stepped up for Thursday's lunch (presented by Becky
Bien, Crye-Leike Realtors). As a comparision, last year's Calypso Cup
Kick-off Breakfast drew 68 participants.
Twenty-five teams, representing 57 Chamber member
businesses/organizations, were introduced at the event by Phil Elson, the
voice of the Arkansas Travelers. The Frisbee - The Travs' organist -
sound tracked the ballpark atmosphere, which featured poster-sized
baseball cards of each competing team. Fun Dunk Entertainment's
baseball throw tested players' pitching speed, while Bennett's Market
grilled burgers and dogs and served up pretzels, peanuts and Cracker
Jack. All players in attendance received their official CLB cap.
$55,600 was raised in the two-week Veterans Preseason, which was
won by the Chamber's Chairman's Committee Grand Slammers, led by
Phyllis Flint (Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield. Phyllis accounted for
$11,500 in of the the Grand Slammers $22,500 in total sales.
With the collection of payments, the first commissions of the season
were also distributed. The Ambassadors Rockin' Royals Kimberly Hipps
(National Bank of Arkansas) received $500, while Phyllis Flint collected
$1,150. In addition to commissions and potential bonuses and awards,
all players making their first sale will earn their official CLB jersey and be
entered into a drawing for prime Cardinals/Redbird Club tickets at Busch
Stadium.
The highlight of the event was a locker room pep talk by Hall of Famer
Jane Krutz, the most prolific volunteer membership recruiter in the 141-
year history of the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce. Opening
Day
concluded with Chamber Chairman of the Board Russ Harrington
(Owner, Baptist Health Angels) throwing out the first pitch to 2006
Individual Challenge Cup winner Matt Lyles (Coulson Oil Company All-
Stars). Leadership Greater Little Rock - A League of Their Own is the
defending team champion.
The day closed with $66,375 in total sales, 13.275% of the season's
$500,000 goal.
The next CLB event is a Rally Breakfast set for Thursday, April 19th, from
7:30 to 8:30 am in the Legends Room of the Stephens Center at UALR.
RSVP by clicking here, completing and submitting the form. Considering
we only had nine RSVPs for Opening Day, but 114 attended, please
RSVP so we'll be sure to have plenty of food.
